Magnetic Particle Inspection
| Magnetic particle testing is ideal for identifying surface or near-surface discontinuities in parts and assemblies whose materials have a certain degree of magnetism, such as billets, bars, castings, forgings, fasteners, weldments, brazes, and extrusions.
Using state-of-the-art multi-directional inspection machinery operated by certified technicians, Stork Material Technology provides rapid, accurate, cost-effective magnetic particle inspections for even the most challenging procedures. In magnetic particle testing, finely divided magnetic particles, applied to a component during magnetization, are attracted to and form the pattern of any magnetic field leakage created by discontinuities. These iron particles may be applied dry or wet, suspended in a liquid, colored, or fluorescent. By examining the nature, location, and extent of an indication, Stork Materials Technology’s highly trained and experienced inspectors can determine the origin and cause of both surface and near-surface discontinuities. Stork Materials Technology operates full-service magnetic particle inspection laboratories that utilize a variety of advanced equipment capable of performing quality inspections for virtually any form of ferrous material, component, or assembly. A partial list of equipment includes: Magnaflux MD3-1060L 5600 Amps Magnaflux 5600 Amps with 1,000 Pound Hoist Hand-held Yokes, Prods, and Cables Stork Materials Technology's magnetic particle services support today’s precision aerospace, military, nuclear, and commercial industries. Our inspectors are certified to ASNT Level III and Level II. |
