Expert Witness Services

In matters of litigation, Stork scientists have been asked to testify regarding medical devices and surgical implants, industrial machinery, construction equipment, automotive and truck components, and many other products. Stork knows how to explain and defend scientific findings and engineering issues.

In support of our failure analysis investigations, Stork Materials Technology laboratories house highly advanced analytical instrumentation, such as state-of-the-art Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM) equipped with a thin film window Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) system and a variable pressure vacuum. Stork Materials Technology can image non-conductive samples without having to carbon or gold-coat them, as required with conventional electron microscopes.

In addition, our failure analysis engineers make use of the full range of product testing: polymer analysis, metallography, mechanical testing, chemical analysis, as well as nondestructive testing capabilities available at the Stork laboratories.

Stork Materials Technology Expert Witnesses can:

  • Detect defects or evidence of abuse
  • Determine mechanical properties such as strength, and chemical composition to evaluate compliance to specifications
  • Evaluate patent infringement
  • Perform metallography, microstructural, and fracture mode analysis.
