Heat Treatment

Although heat treatment is most often associated with increasing the strength of materials, it also can be used to improve machining, enhance formability, and restore ductility after a cold working operation. Given its varied applications, heat treatment is a valuable manufacturing process that can improve product performance and yield other desirable characteristics.

Stork Materials Technology's sister company Cooperheat is staffed, certified, and equipped to provide a full range of quality heat treatment services for a variety of materials, including metals, non-metals, composites, coatings, and refractories.

From the development of an initial concept to the completion of the process and hand over, Stork Materials Technology engineers and staff work to ensure your complete satisfaction with our heat treatment services. Offering a full range of heat treatment applications, all of which utilize controlled and recorded heating processes, Stork Materials Technology has the experience, equipment, and expertise to develop custom configurations for your particular processes.

Our heating processes include:

Low-Range Temperature Heating Utilizing temperatures less than 250°C, Stork Materials Technology’s low-temperature heat treatments can be used for:

  • Curing protective coatings, including paints, phenolics, epoxy resins, and rubber linings
  • Moisture removal
  • Line thaw or decongestion of solidified low-melting point substances
  • GRP pipe joint curing
  • Composite curing
  • Welding preheat and concurrent heating of steels and non-ferrous metals
  • Heat shrink and expansion of fitted components, such as rotor bell ends and gears

Mid-Range Temperature Heating Utilizing temperatures between 200°C to 800°C, Stork Materials Technology’s mid-range temperature heat treatment services include:

  • Higher t
