Description of operational unit

Stork Twin City Testing Corporation is a member of the Stork Materials Technology (SMT) group of companies.

Our facility in St. Paul, Minnesota is the headquarters for Stork Twin City Testing. Since 1938, Twin City Testing has provided testing and inspection services to the upper northwest. Acquired by Stork in 1998, Stork TCT is now the most diverse testing laboratory in the Midwest.

Summary of position

Performs non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity using operational precedents which are not fully applicable. Exercises great independence and generally has wide latitude in carrying out assignments. Receives direction only where unusual problems are encountered and for final review of projects.

Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Assumes overall responsibility for the setup, scheduling and directing of activities on projects requiring a high degree of technical knowledge. Requires selection, adaptation, or modification of a wide variety of test equipment and test procedures. Sets up and operates equipment, records and analysis data.
  • Plans project activities in conjunction with project manager and engineers.
  • Develops solutions to complex technical problems for review by project manager or engineers.
  • Maintains client contact for the purpose of discussing and evaluating their specific needs and to communicate test results.
  • Prepares written reports of routine test results and submits to engineer for review.
  • Maintains test equipment, tools and machinery in good working condition, promptly reporting any malfunctions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Associates Degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Years of Experience Zero to two years of applicable experience.
Additional skills, abilities, qualifications, and licenses
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Physical requirements
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
  • May be performed at heights requiring use of a ladder.
  • Requires use of forklift—will train
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently.
