Stork Twin City Testing Corporation is a member of the Stork Materials Technology (SMT) group of companies.
Our facility in St. Paul, Minnesota is the headquarters for Stork Twin City Testing. Since 1938, Twin City Testing has provided testing and inspection services to the upper northwest. Acquired by Stork in 1998, Stork TCT is now the most diverse testing laboratory in the Midwest.

| Summary of position |
The primary function of the Department Manager Metallurgical Laboratory is to ensure efficient and orderly operations of all aspects of his/her department through hands on demonstration and supervision.
Must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to:
- Leadership and managerial skills in activities for the department, supervise technicians, and will be responsible for department sales.
- Ability to ensure compliance with safety rules, company policies and procedures.
- Skills to communicate, monitor and ensure progress toward attainment of location and company goals.
This position is a Manager level and reports to the General Manager.
Impact: Policy / Decisions: Medium; Financial: Medium; Legal: Low.

| Essential duties and responsibilities |
- Supervises staffs of non-professionals who are responsible for day to day tasks.
- Responsible for managing large and small failure analysis projects.
- Responsible for personnel management of assigned staff including hiring, training, and assignments, performance evaluations, salary administration, discipline, and employee morale.
- Responsible for project management, including staff assignments, equipment allocations, schedules, and costs.
- Ensures all work is performed in accordance with company procedures and regulatory agencies' requirements.
- Responsible for marketing and developing the business in his/her area of expertise.
- Accountable for business development and the development of projects by others.
- Provides direction and technical decision-making for management involving capital asset purchases and expenses for projects and or/strategic initiatives.
- Responsible for monitoring and enforcing safety procedures to conform to appropriate regulatory and company standards.
- Schedule Laboratory staff for laboratory testing in the Building Product Testing Laboratory.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

| Education |
Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or Materials related studies. P.E preferred. |
| Years of Experience |
Minimum experience level: 5-7 years. |
| Experience areas |
- Must have good understanding and working knowledge of failure and metallurgical techniques.
- Must be experienced in interpreting testing procedures and requirements.
- Must be experienced in managing complex and sensitive issues.
- Demonstrated success in writing proposals and failure analysis reports.
- Demonstrated success in performing calibrations and maintenance of metallurgical equipment including SEM/EDX.
- Must have experience in the Oil or Welding industry.

- Ability to operate a motor vehicle within company policy. A valid driver’s license is required.
