Online Learning: Stork Polymer Scientist Jeff Jansen to present webinar on plastics

ONLINE - November 9, 2005

Every day scientists invent new applications for plastics; manufacturers are faced with the ongoing challenge of determing how well these materials will perform, and for how long.

Stork's Polymer Science Manager, Jeff Janson of the Stork Technimet laboratory in New Berlin, Wisconsin, has focused on plastics and polymeric materials testing for many years. On November 15 at 11 a.m. EST, he will offer his third online seminar sponsored by the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE), titled Environmental Stress Cracking and Other Solvent Effects. The one-hour presentation will cover failure mechanisms, particularly those induced by chemical interactions and environmental stresses, and will include a question-and-answer period.

"Participants in the online presentation will come away with an enhanced understanding of how chemicals and plastic resins interact, the effects of environmental stress cracking and solvents, and other common polymeric failure modes. Most importantly," says Jansen, "participants will learn specific ways to prevent plastics failure in their products, components, and processes, and how to save themselves the time and money associated with materials failures."
