Stork FDO investigates wind turbines in Costa Rica

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS, September 7, 2005

Essent, the Netherlands' largest multi-utility group, selected the Failure Analysis and Consultancy Department of Stork FDO in Amsterdam (NL) to investigate mechanical damage on a number of wind turbines in Costa Rica.

Stork FDO had previously assisted Essent with research and advice on wind turbine gearboxes in Holland. The energy company, which supplies 2.8 million customers with electricity and 1.9 million with gas, was pleased with the outcome of that project and asked two FDO scientists to contribute to field research in Costa Rica, with parts and samples to be flown back to Europe for inspection afterwards. Essent required Stork FDO's materials technology expertise in addition to specialty work by Stork Gears & Services in Rotterdam.

Mr. Guido Bakema of Essent, says, "We concluded that Stork FDO made the best offer to us for the required service quick response, right expertise, one stop shopping, practical approach and no nonsense advice. That’s why we asked for Stork FDO on this job."
