Stork staff to sit on flammability discussion panel
LAS VEGAS , NV —August 10, 2005
Stork Twin City Testing announces its participation in a discussion panel titled Preparing for the Federal Standard – Implementation and Beyond. The panel will convene Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at the ISPA (International Sleep Products Association) Industry Conference at the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa, Las Vegas, NV, and is part of the ongoing ISPA SHOPtalk series.
Panel members are scheduled to include representatives of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the California Bureau of Home Furnishings, the Sleep Products Safety Council, Jason Harber of Stork Twin City Testing, and others (subject to change). Topics for discussion will center on the new Federal mattress flammability standard, scheduled to go into effect in the next 18 months. Related subjects may include:
- Details about the proposed standard
- Compliance/production issues
- Troubleshooting for manufacturers
- Practical testing advice
- New flame-resistant materials and processes
“I’m honored to be part of this conference,” says Harber, who’s worked at Stork TCT as a Product Evaluation Technician III since 2003. “In a very short time, the demand for flammability testing has really taken off due to increased regulation. It’s now the main focus of my work, next to our durability and comfort bedding services. I’ve probably carried out 2000 to 3000 mattress ignitions and evaluations in our burn chamber. I look forward to sharing some of these experiences—and helping managers and manufacturers navigate the testing process.”
