Stork at work on natural gas project in Texas, Louisiana
CAMERON, LA - July 20, 2005
Stork Southwestern Laboratories has begun work on a site stabilization project for Recon LP in Cameron, Louisiana. The Texas-based lab was awarded the contract for the Sabine Pass Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) project, which is expected to continue through August of 2006.
Sheniere Energy is developing the project, which includes the building of an LNG receiving terminal near Sabine Pass, Texas. Stork SwL’s role at the site in Cameron will be to provide geotechnical drilling and sampling of the location where the Recon construction team will erect and install a 290-foot diameter LNG tank, an area of approximately 60-80 acres. Stork engineers will evaluate the soil and compacted fill material to ensure stability.
Stork SwL Project Manager Philip Grice says, "We're excited to be part of the Sabine Pass project and all the other energy projects that are popping up in the region. The soil work on this site will be important because of the heavy load it must support and the critical nature of the tank's contents. You don't get second chances with an enormous installation of this kind; we plan to get it right the first time for Recon, Sheniere Energy, and the people in the Cameron community."
