Nondestructive Evaluation Field Services

Stork nondestructive testing services in the field
The same nondestructive testing methods used by Stork Materials Technology in our materials testing laboratories are available onsite, on a call-out basis or for long-term projects.

When employed at critical stages of the manufacturing or fabrication process, our NDE technicians work in the field to optimize production and ensure the quality of your finished product.

Nondestructive testing methods
Experienced in all facets of nondestructive testing, the Stork portfolio of nondestructive testing field services includes:

  • Radiography
Using X-ray and gamma ray technology, industrial radiography is an efficient, reliable inspection method for the non-destructive detection and identification of surface and subsurface discontinuities. Stork Materials Technology maintains a wide range of radiography equipment that supports inspections up to 8 inches in thickness for steel and 20 inches of thickness for concrete – ideal for locating reinforcement bars, conduit, and post-tension cables in concrete slabs and columns.
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection
This nondestructive method is one of the most sensitive means for detecting surface or near-surface defects in ferromagnetic materials. Structures or parts of almost any shape or size can be rapidly and accurately examined using this technique.
  • Liquid Penetrant Inspection
Liquid (dye) Penetrant remains one of the most reliable, efficient, and cost-effective methods for detecting flaws in ferrous and nonferrous materials. Stork Materials Technology offers Type II inspection services to all of the various commercial and nuclear codes, as well as Type I fluorescent inspection for aerospace, government, nuclear, and after-market applications.
  • Ultrasonic Inspection
Frequently used in thickness and corrosion inspection, as well as the examination of full penetration groove welds, ultrasonic is a highly accurate detection method that proves to be extremely efficient in field locations due to the portability of the equipment and the ability to evaluate and record results at the time of inspection. And because it requires access to only one side of the test specimen, ultrasonic testing is ideal for situations where radiographic examination is not possible.
  • Positive Material Identification (PMI)
Positive Material Identification (PMI) is the identification and analysis of various metal alloys by their chemical composition through nondestructive methods. PMI can be conducted on-site or in the laboratory.
