HALT Testing and HASS Testing

HALT / HASS stands for Highly Accelerated Life Testing / Highly Accelerated Stress Screening. These blue steel chambers provide critical data about your product’s reliability and maturity. Expert operators conduct testing with HALT / HASS equipment at several Stork locations in the U.S., providing extremely accurate simulations of real-life conditions your product or parts may endure.

Mean Time Before Failure
Stork offers its clients HALT / HASS services for a variety of testing applications, including evaluation of a product’s design before it enters the production phase. It is an invaluable tool for increasing a product’s Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF). Engineers have recorded increases from 5 to 1000 times original MTBF with strategic use of HALT / HASS testing.

Shorten Time-to-Market
Stork engineers and scientists have substantially reduced the research and development costs in time and labor for countless clients with HALT/HASS services. It is a proven method of shortening the timeto-market period. Our experienced staff has the training and expertise to apply the many benefits of HALT/HASS testing—as well as those of all our specialized instrumentation and equipment—to your specific product or process.

Capabilities
The HALT/HASS testing chamber is capable of combining high rate thermal cycling with triaxial random vibration at six degrees of freedom (6 DoF).

System Performance

  • Temperature Range: -100° to 200° C
  • Temperature Change Rate: 60° per minute
  • Temperature Stability: ±1° C after stabilization
  • Vibration Type: Repetitive shock, tri-axial noncoherent. Product experiences 6 degrees of freedom broadband random vibration.
  • Working Area Ranges: 30-48” x 40-48” x 36-48” high
  • Maximum Vibration Power: 60 grms
  • Frequency Ranges: 5 to 5,000 Hz and 5 to 20,000 Hz

Meeting Standards
Stork Materials Technology’s quality programs meet the ISO/IEC Guide 17025 standards (equivalent to the relevant laboratory requirements of the ISO 9002 series of standards).
