The Trunk Highway 212 Design-Build Project through Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, Chaska, and Carver, Minnesota, involved the construction of 11.8 miles of new Highway 212. The construction included a new four-lane alignment including 28 bridges, 7 interchanges, 6 overpasses, berms, and noise walls. The purpose of the new Highway 212 was to improve traffic safety, improve capacity, decrease congestion, and create a vital link between the Twin Cities and western Minnesota and South Dakota. The roadway construction consisted of concrete pavement with bituminous shoulders. Construction within the corridor also included the installation of utilities, lighting, ITS systems, fencing, and guard rail. Stork TCT performed field nuclear density compaction and moisture testing on granular borrow, select granular modified, and Class 2, 5, 6, and 7 aggregate base placed for embankment and roadway construction. The testers performed laboratory sieve analyses (gradations) on granular borrow, select granular modified, and Class 2, 5, 6, and 7 aggregate base. The testers also performed nuclear density testing of bituminous placements to establish a rolling pattern. |
