Welding Engineering

According to the American Welding Society, over 50 percent of the U.S. gross national product can be associated with welded or bonded products.

As technology advances, these products become more  technically complex, but it's still possible to find one source of engineering expertise to conduct weld testing and inspection programs for each of these industries: construction, electronics, power generation, petrochemicals, materials development, transportation, aerospace and hydrospace, robotics, national defense industries, and more.

Stork laboratories maintain CWI and CWEng-certified staff experienced in all aspects of ferrous, nonferrous, polymer properties and welding requirements. Our range of weld testing services includes:

  • Welder Training and Procedure Qualification in ASME and AWS welding codes and TÜV/PED requirements.
  • Development of Weld Procedures to meet client specifications and all applicable codes, with in-house machining.
  • Weld Failure Analysis investigating the causes of weld failures and developing cost-effective corrective actions.
  • Weld Quality Analysis through visual inspection, macroscopic and metallographic examination, and other nondestructive testing methods. The quality and reliability of weld joints, including those in fabrication are evaluated with in-house and onsite inspections.
  • Weld Repairs Development and management of repair welding projects including failure analysis, procedure development, procedure and performance qualification, witness and troubleshooting of repairs, inspection of completed work, and coordination of post-weld heat treatment, painting, shipping, etc.
  • Weld Machine Calibration Certification of welding equipment to comply with electrical parameters, including qualification of electrodes and rods.
  • Welding Process Improvement Audit, inspection, and review of welding processes and procedures to troubleshoot and correct problems and inefficiencies.
