Nondestructive testing method of choice

After more than a century, radiographic inspection—or x-ray—is still the nondestructive testing method of choice for most projects, whether in the laboratory or in the field.

Stork operates radiographic laboratories around the country, staffed with certified technicians and outfitted with the latest technical and image processing equipment to process, inspect, and certify to the highest standards a wide variety of products for the aerospace, power generation, military, nuclear, and commercial industries.

When size matters

We operate one of the largest x-ray inspection cells available. Our largest x-ray chamber in the U.S.—measuring 32 feet by 32 feet—is equipped with a 4MeV linear accelerator that is capable of penetrating the equivalent of 12 inches of steel. Our materials handling systems can accommodate items weighing up to 6 tons.

Range of applications

Stork's NDT technicians commonly use advanced radiographic inspection methods to:

detect discontinuities in weld and weld overlays, castings, forgings, valves and components, machined parts, pressure vessels, structural steel, and aircraft structures, boilers, power plants, etc.
determine the extent of internal and external corrosion and erosion in process piping, pressure vessels, and valves, using radiography shadow shots.
locate reinforcement bars, conduit, and post-tension cables in concrete slabs and columns.
