AMSTERDAM - July 19, 2007 Stork FDO opened its doors to a TV team on Thursday 19 July. Documentary makers armed with cameras and audio equipment were filming a report for the KRO station about quality assurance in the cosmetic medical industry. Henk Bookholt, Product Manager for Applied Mechanics at Stork FDO, was on the scene. “Here we’re testing breast implants made by Mentor Medical Systems, the company which is the subject of the documentary. Mentor is world market Medical professionals and institutes continuously carry out scientific research into the safety of breast implants. The testing of medical equipment is subject to stringent rules and regulations. In accordance with those regulations, Stork FDO designed a custom-made test system together with Mentor. The tests carried out with this system were filmed by the documentary makers. Henk Bookholt: “Of course I don’t know what the programme will look like after editing, but I think it will give the viewers a good impression of how we test the outside of these implants, the shell, for shock resistance and durability.” The KRO documentary will be broadcast in the station’s ‘Het Lab’ (‘The Lab’) series. This will be shown in a series of nine episodes from 11 September at 21.30 hours on the Dutch channel 3. The date on which the episode with Stork FDO will be broadcast is not yet known. Stork FDO is part of Stork Materials Technology and carries out material tests and analyses and damage investigations for customers all over the world.
